This newly opened hangout in my neck of the woods of West London is what you might call "instagram/pinterest heaven". You'll see what I'm talking about as you scroll down - I mean, those copper cups, the lights, the white booths and succulents... I'm in love with it all.
E and I took advantage of the 50% off soft launch last weekend, and went for a lovely casual brunch on a Saturday. It was already a treat as our work schedules don't often allow us to have brunch/lunch together on the weekends, but to find ourselves in this place where we instantly felt at home was a bonus!
No. 197 Chiswick Fire Station is a renovated fire station (hence the name) that is now an independent restaurant, café and bar. They have different sections in their space to suit different needs - cosy booths, the bar, lounge chairs, large communal tables and regular dining tables. I love how they mix and match the furniture, and how well they tie together - can you tell yet that I'm crazy about the aesthetics of this restaurant?
But of course, our priority was the food. E went for the House Burger, I chose the Club Sandwich (grilled marinated chicken, smoked bacon, avocado, roasted tomatoes, basil mayo and sourdough toast), and we also tried the truffle mac & cheese and their homemade fries. I was pretty impressed with my sandwich - it make partially deconstructed, and the chicken and bacon were good quality, and the basil mayo made it quite unique. It's not a dish I go for often, so I'm glad it didn't disappoint! The fries were delicious, and although I didn't have much of the mac & cheese or burger, E enjoyed them which is always a good sign!
We did contemplate getting dessert, but we couldn't quite manage it... we will definitely be back though, and I'm keen to try out their cocktails, too. After all, how can the drinks be bad when made in such a beautiful bar?
The staff were very friendly and the service was quite good considering it was their opening weekend, and we were gifted with oyster card holders which are actually nice (free card holders always tend to be slightly ugly, don't they?!).
Next time, I might go for one of those gorgeous booths - E had arrived first and considered asking for a booth, but then thought sitting under the skylight was better for photos. I think he's definitely risen in the #bloggerhusband ranks with that one.
