the happy list :: august 2015

all photos from my Instagram!

Read: Mrs Hemingway by Naomi Wood. I really enjoyed this novel, a work of fiction about Hemingway's wives (but based on various true sources) - I liked the writing and although I felt some parts were rushed at times (it covers a fairly long time span), it was one of my favourites of the year. I've now got two very long books on current and to-read list, hopefully I'll finish one of them during September!

Watched: I finally got round to watching The Butler and thought it was a lovely and moving film. A little too "neat" in its plot, maybe, but I wasn't too bothered by it. Of course, I've also being enjoying the Great British Bake Off

Ate: Everything that I feasted on on this day

Purchased: After hearing and reading rave reviews about this cleanser, I finally caved and tried it. Unfortunately for me, considering the price tag, I'm in love. It's the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Clicked: - Love and Limoncello is a blog written by Zoe, who is a lovely lady (I can say this, because I've met her and she is a sweetheart). Like so many of the bloggers that I love to read, she's a travel-loving foodie - meaning that two of my favourite things are covered on L&L. Along with that, there's a good dash of luxury on Zoe's blog - a champagne dinner at L'autre Pied, a Thai massage, a decadent stay at The Corinthia - there are always plenty of heart-eyed-emoji-inducing posts to enjoy. I've also loved her recent travel posts including hidden gems of Europe and highlights from Spain, amongst others. There's bound to be something you love on Love & Limoncello!

               - I love having Honey's blog The Girl Next Shore on my sidebar! Love, her, love the blog. She always has posts that will make your stomach rumble - Dishoom (I adore that place), a Brixton tapas gem in the form of Boqueria, Taberna de Mercado (where we actually ate together), and most delicious-looking of all, inexpensive foodie highlights from Singapore. She's also been a bit of a baking goddess, and very exciting news - she's officially a UK resident! Great writing, content and sincerity is what you'll find on The Girl Next Shore

                - Angie of SilverSpoon London has been eating delicious things and travelling to gorgeous places, as is the norm on her blog! From beautiful days in Cannes, celebrating a very special family birthday at The Dorchester, a classic Sunday roast at The Botanist, a lovely baby shower in Covent garden and a stunning trip to Singapore, there's never a dull moment in Angie's life. Her blog also has an updated look which I think is great - having just gone through it myself, I know how much work goes into these things, so hop on over and leave her some love!

Listened: There's a new podcast on my ever-growing subscription list, and it's the Happier Podcast by Gretchen Rubin. I haven't read her book, but I'm loving the podcast so far - 20 minute episodes of seemingly small things to make your life happier. I'd definitely recommend it.

Ran: 53.8km. I did a 10K run for the first time in ages this month, which I was very happy about! With our 10K race in NYC coming up in less than 2 months, I want to try and get a few more of these in before then. Still loving ClassPass - I might do a 6 months update at the end of September about it, if only to try and justify keeping my membership at the normal rate... gulp.

Blogged: My favourite post was definitely the breathtaking sunset with my best friends in Ireland. I'm also just happy and excited about the whole updated look and platform

Cooked: I really haven't cooked anything worth mentioning lately... not good. Everything's just been a throw together what's in the fridge/can't even call this a recipe it's so easy, kind of dishes. I hope I'm not alone?!

Visited: Dublin, Ireland, for...

Celebrated: The wedding of one of my very best, oldest friends! It was simply beautiful. We also celebrated our two year wedding anniversary - it's gone so quickly!

Thanks so much for reading!
